Curators Camp Kabeshinàn
October 22 -24, 2009
National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, ON

In the spirit and protocol of acknowledging traditional territories, the Algonkin word Kabeshinàn meaning “camp” will guide our efforts through the proposed course of action. The ACC will unite the ‘Campers’ - Aboriginal and ACC-Alliance members and other registered participants - with tools and support required to broaden their experience and expertise in this field through the unique format of the Camp. Campers will meet collectively during daily sessions and evening events, but will also be divided into four ‘Camp Troops’ reflecting the four sacred colours and the four directions. Each Troop will be led by a respected member of the Aboriginal arts community who will act as the ‘Camp Counsellor,’ working closely together to collaborate over the three days to develop and initiate a curatorial proposal for future ACC programming.

PLEASE NOTE: There is limited seating space available in the National Gallery of Canada’s Lecture Hall, so attendance will be based upon pre-registration and on a first come, first served basis. We will do our best to accommodate all those who wish to attend but recommend that you pre-register by September 25th, 2009.
